How do I hold the club?
The club will be held across the middle section of the fingers in both hands.
The v formed by the thumb and forefinger of both hands will point just right of the chin.
The life line of the right hand will cover the left thumb.
Should I overlap my little finger?
The little finger of the right hand will fit over the top of the pointer finger of the left
This will help to keep your hands together as one unit.
There is no gap in between the hands.
How tight should I hold the club?
Hold the club firm enough to keep hold of the club however soft enough so that the wrists remain relaxed and supple.
Imagine holding a wet towel. You will be soft enough so as not to squeeze any water out of the towel.
Your grip will remain constant at this pressure throughout the entire swing.
How far from the end of the club should my grip be?
You will have about 1/8 of an inch left uncovered at the top of the handle.
The butt end of the grip will not be covered by the hands.
This will give you the full length of the club for distance while retaining control.
How do I stand?
Feet shoulder width apart.
Bent forward slightly from the hips keeping your back straight.
Flex your knees so you can rock from your toes to your heels in balance.
Let your arms hang vertically from your shoulders.

Where is the ball positioned?
The ball will be positioned in between the center of the stance and the left arm-pit.
Shorter irons will be off the center of the stance.
Woods and long irons may be played off the left arm-pit.
How far away should I stand?
Basic stance is the same for all full swings. Good posture, balance with arms hanging vertically.
The clubs however are all different lengths.
Longer clubs will of course be further away.
E.g.. A wedge or 9 iron will seem closer to you because they are short and the 3 iron and driver will seem further away
because of the longer shaft.
How does the ball become airborne?
The ball will get into the air because of the loft on the club face.
We must hit the bottom of he ball with the bottom edge of the club.
Put a penny underneath the ball and make sure that you hit the penny. While practicing with a wedge or 9 iron.
What part of the club should I aim?
The bottom groove of the club-face should face 90 degrees to the target.
The top edge of the club is never used to aim the face.
What part of the ball should I aim for?
You should hit the bottom of the ball.
Aim to hit the inside quarter.
Hit balls off pennies and make sure to hit the penny.

Why does my ball keep going right?
Your club face is facing right at impact.
You are adding loft either by having the club lean back at impact or opening the face in an attempt to get the ball airborne.
Stick with more lofted clubs starting out until you learn to trust the loft to get the ball in the air
Should I start out practicing off a tee?
It is up to you however keep in mind that practicing of a high tee can allow you to get away with the beginners trademark,
flipping the hands to get the ball in the air.
The earlier you start to trust the loft of the club will get the ball into the air the better.
Learn to hit straight off the mat or grass with more lofted clubs.Hit little shots first with a wedge and build up.
Why am I having trouble with my driver?
The driver has the least loft of any club in your bag with the exception of the putter.
Generally speaking the more speed you have squarely applied the higher your ball will fly.
Until your swing has the precision to deliver a strong blow with a very square face the driver will cause you more trouble
than it is worth.
A seven wood because of its loft is a great wood to start with.
How should I finish my swing?
Balanced.
In balance would mean right knee touching the left.
Belt buckle facing the target.
Club up over the left shoulder with no wobble or contrived motion at the end of the swing.
If the swing is powered by the hips and abdominal muscles the body will be in balance.
What clubs should I start with?
Stick with the shorter more lofted clubs to start.
Wedge, 9, 8, 7, will be you friends in the early stages as will the 5 & 7 woods.
As your precision improves the lower lofted clubs will come out of the garage.

Why am I so inconsistent?
Think of yourself right now as a tradesman learning to hammer a nail. We will start with little blows and miss the nail
regularly.

understanding of your game.
